Throughout its lifespan, the coin was struck in 0.900 fine with a diameter of 26.92 millimeters. The standard weight was 16.718 grams. Mints producing the coin included Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco.

A curious note about this design is that it was initiated by one President Roosevelt and discontinued by another President Roosevelt. Its inception dates back to 1904 during Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency and the conclusion of the series occurred during Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency.
