In an effort to bring about better recognition for the native tribes that inhabited the territories claimed by the United States government, the Sacagawea Dollar coin was revised in the manner of having a new reverse each year moving forward. The bill that provided this change is known as the Native American $1 Coin Act and was signed by President George W. Bush on September 20th, 2007.
