Anthony Dollars

The Susan B. Anthony dollar is one of the shortest lived coins in the history of the United States. Born out of a desire to have an actively circulating dollar coin, several missteps in production led to an early hiatus.

The previous issue, the Eisenhower Dollar, was minted to the same order of weight specifications as the dime, quarter, and half dollar, while retaining the diameter from the long absent silver dollars. Althought the coins enjoyed use in casinos, the paper dollar outside of those establishments was wearing thin.
