About Great Britain Six Pence

The Sixpence piece of the United Kingdom was one of the most common silver pieces of the realm, minted almost continuously from 1816 to 1967. Originally, the coin was struck in 0.925 fine silver. This was altered in 1920 to 0.500 fine silver, and the composition was changed to cupro-nickel in 1947. Over the years, the silver six pence has been utitlized as a good luck charm for a bride on her wedding day.
