About Australia Half Pennies

Approximately 180 million years ago, the landmass that would become known as Australia broke away from the supercontinent Gondwana and became an isolated island continent of its own. The flora and fauna that inhabited the land diversified and made itself unique to anywhere else on the planet.

Humans first migrated about 65,000 years ago, following the land bridges and island chains of modern-day Indonesia. They propagated the Aboriginal cultures. At any point, the native tribes may have numbered towards a million individuals and spoke over 250 languages. Their culture persists through the current era.
